Central African Republic (CAR) becomes the first African country to adopt Bitcoin

The Central African Republic (CAR) has officially become the second country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender after El Salvador, according to the press release from the president's office.

Obed Namsio the chief of staff in a statement tweeted by AFP on April 27 stated that president Faustin Archangel Touadera signed a bill into law that makes Bitcoin legal tender alongside the CFA franc and legalized the usage of cryptocurrencies

"The CAR is the first country in Africa to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. This move places the Central African Republic on the map of the world's boldest and most visionary countries," he declared
